Provenance: Private collection, Delaware

Note: Desgrange was known as a painter of animals and genre. He entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1844, studying with Michael-Martin Drolling and Jules-Louis-Phillipe Coignet. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1840 with a painting entitled "Le Maraudeur Surpris".
