Max Thedy was a painter of still-lifes, historical subjects, portraits and genre. He studied at the Munich Academy with Alexander Wagner, Ludwig von Lofftz and Wilhelm von Diez. In 1883 he became a professor at the art school in Weimar. A winner of numerous awards over the years, the artist’s works hang in the collections of the numerous museums of Cresden, Mayence, Munich, Stettin, and Weimar.
